ELYSE + RESIDENCY
December is my last month of βthe good lifeβ of residency.
In our program, all primary call is taken between January 1 of first year and December 31 of second year. Call works differently depending on the specialty and program. For me, it's not so bad. I'm on call approximately every 8th weekday and every 8th weekend. For weekedays, call starts at 430 pm and goes until 730 am the next morning. For weekends, it starts at 430 pm Friday and extends until 730 AM Monday. During that time, I'll carry the pager and go see any consults from the hospital or emergency room. All call is taken from home so it's still nothing like intern year.

I also have to start studying three times as much in preparation for our annual mock board exams. Board exams are the final obstacle at the end of a very long tunnel of medicine. The yearly mock exam helps us make sure weβre on track to pass the real thing at the completion of our three-year residency program. My current plan is an average of one hour every weekday and 3-4 hours every weekend.

ELYSE + LOVE
Alex and I broke up. I almost didn't put this in the update.. okay, I'm actually adding it after initial publication because someone left me a message on instagram thanking me for keeping it real. Somethings should remain private, but I want you to know that sometimes beautiful things fall apart. Sometimes life is messy.
With that said, I have realized this month that I have the best friends in the world - you included. Thank you for your kind words, patience, and support.

Have you heard the story of Cindy Stowell? βJeopardy!β Run Ends for Cindy Stowell, Cancer-Stricken Champion
J. Coleβs β4 your eyes onlyβ is probably the best rap album of the year.
BTW - I've been comparing spotify vs Tidal and so far - I think spotify is definitely the better deal... but you knew that already didn't you?
I randomly stumbled upon "WOMEN: New Portraits Annie Leibovitz" while walking home from the Highline this month. Absolutely mesmerizing photos of powerful women. My goal for 2017 is to attend more performances, museums, and galleries.
This SNL skit might be one of my favorites. It helped that I'd just watched "Love, Actually." What's your favorite SNL skit?
ELYSE + STYLE
home: Thank you all for your tv recommendations on instagram (stories)! I finally settled on this Samsung beauty after a major price drop and it is magnificent. The TV stand was my very first DIY project and it came out perfectly. What shows are you guys loving right now? All of my friends are talking about "The Affair" on showtime, so that will probably be my first binge of 2017.
Now all i need for my apartment is

ELYSE + FITNESS
I finally bit the bullet and splurged on the toneitup Nutrition plan. Iβve been a loyal follower of toneitup since medical school and they have added so much free value to my life that it doesnβt actually seem like much of a splurge. Will keep you posted this month on how it goes!
