Boz and I have been decorating the living room for the past year. First, he added the rug. Then, after a 6 month search, he replaced the couch. Then, the beautiful living room table. I brought my TV and TV stand when I moved in. So, this left us with our next big project - artwork for the huge, blank wall above the sofa. So, when photowall.com contacted us to try out their service, we were super excited.
The service offers two types of pieces - wall murals (which are similar to wall paper in their span) and canvas prints. I was pretty excited about one wall mural initially, but we decided to go with multiple canvas prints because there's more wiggle room to get things wrong. The service was kind enough to gift us two pieces, and we liked them so much we purchased a third.
It took us weeks to decide on the final artwork. Max and I each made individual pinterest boards and then decided among the pieces that overlapped. We both really love these quirky animal "portraits" by Ryan Fowler. I was a little worried how they would fit in with the rest of our artwork, so we placed an abstract piece in the center to tie the fun pieces in with our other abstract work.
I was shocked at how quickly the canvases arrived, within 2-3 days. They sat in a corner of our apartment for about 2 weeks because we were really busy with travel, work, and marathon training. The canvases come with a "do it yourself" frame and you guys - I am not a DIY type of girl. However, it was super, super easy and a lot of fun to put them together (see below). It took less than an hour to put all three together, although it took a good amount of time to hang them.
The pieces have been hanging in our apartment for about a week now, and we are so happy with them. They are light, fun, and really make the apartment feel much larger by drawing the eye upwards.
This was the first major decoration we've done together since moving in together and felt very special.
